The inhabitants of Galicia normally speak either Galician or Castilian however there are many others who speak both languages. The Atlantic cities of Vigo, A Coruña and Ferrol are the places where Galician is least spoken (below midpoint average) and therefore Castilian is the main language. However, Galician is the main language in other areas. The urban areas of Pontevedra, Santiago, Lugo and Ourense are clearly differentiated on the map. The coastal areas of Pontevedra are included in the intermediate area. The use of Galician is high in the eastern areas of A Coruña, the southern areas of Lugo and all areas of Ourense. The remainder of the areas are almost completely monolingual and speak only Galician.
